Kids Zone ~ Theatrical Dance

w/ Miss White Spider Arts

Ages 3-7

Tuesdays 3:30-4:30pm 

November 7 – December 19


Program Philosophy:
Participation in this dance promotes self-confidence, self-esteem, and a strong sense of self-identity. When students are able to express feelings and ideas through artistic movement, they gain self-awareness and often self-acceptance. Creative movement experiences promote both self-reflection and a deeper appreciation for others. The communal nature of dance learning often helps students who might otherwise feel isolated or alienated in group settings.  We will explore gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, timing, agility, co-operation and leadership skills

Mums or caregivers are welcome to stay with their children if they need a parent otherwise it is encouraged to drop them off for the hour.

Program structure:
3:30 – 3:40 Opening circle
3:40 – 3:45 warm up dance
3:45 – 4:00  Play with props
4:00 – 4:10 Teacher leads children through a guided visualization where they enact the various elements/animals/characters of the story set to music and sound.
4:15 – 4:20 Cool down
4:25 – Closing circle

Iyengar Yoga – Gentle

Wednesday 10-11:15 am

This class is gentle, yet invigorating. Practice a range of basic yoga postures, with extra time allowed for individual modifications of the poses. Improve balance, build strength and increase mobility. Newcomers welcome.

NOTE: $48 when you also register in another weekly Iyengar yoga class.

For students wishing to start mid-session, the session fee may be prorated.

If you attend two committed Iyengar yoga classes per week, a price break is offered on your second class.

Visiting Iyengar yoga students are welcome to drop in.

Kids Yoga

Ages 3-9

Thursdays 3:30 – 4:00pm

Starts January 11, 2018

This playful and engaging class introduces children to the practice of yoga. Each class includes yoga postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation taught through using games, songs, or storytelling. Cooperative learning in a non-competitive and supportive environment will help children develop greater self-understanding, focus, body awareness, creativity and self-esteem.

Note: Kids under 5 must be accompanied by an adult.  Drop ins are welcome after we meet a min of 5 committed.  Drop in is $10/child ~ Save $2 per session when you commit.
