Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa, more simply put, the cardio of yoga. Vinyasa is a Sanskrit term often employed to describe a broad range of yoga styles. In this Vinyasa Class students will connect their breath to the moment of their body. This fun, engaging class teaches the fundamentals of Vinyasa Yoga including: sun salutation, standing postures, balancing poses, seated and reclining poses, back bends and core isolation. Moving and connecting different postures into one fluent flow.

Mixed Level Hatha

The word Hatha comes from the Sanskrit terms ‚ÄúHa‚ÄĚ, meaning sun, and ‚ÄúTha‚ÄĚ, meaning moon. The practice seeks to unite and balance pairs of opposites: right and left, female and male, hot and cold, rationality and intuition, movement and calm. These opposites all exist in our bodies and minds, but we have the tendency to favor one of the other. Hatha Yoga evens our imbalances, bringing unity between body, mind, and spirit. Through the continued practice of asanas (yoga poses), you will gain flexibility and strength, relieve tension and stress and become more centered and aware of your complete being.

“Yin Yoga is a practice much needed in today‚Äôs difficult divisive times.¬† It offers us a way to leave behind our ideas of how we should be, and return to our true selves, where all lasting healing takes place.” – Biff Mithoefer

The essence of Yin Yoga is to surrender. Qualities of yin yoga are slow, allowing, and yielding (opposite of many yang and energetic varieties). Yin focuses on postures that lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips, pelvis, and lower back. Students typically hold these postures for 3-10 minutes per side in order to lengthen the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. The elasticity of our connective tissue diminishes with physical activity and aging, which makes Yin essential for injury prevention and joint health. Since a Yin Yoga practice often includes several long, seated forward bending postures, it also restores energy and calms the nervous system. Pure bliss!

This class is open to all levels.
